The Open-Housing S Slew Drive from Kinematics works perfectly in a variety of mobile applications, such as in utility equipment, vehicle and gantry crane steering, man-lifts, self-propelled lifts, cranes, backhoes and digger derricks.  The open housing allows the ring gear to be seen from the outside as it rotates.  This drive utilizes the bare minimum amount of material for the highest performing drive in the lightest package.

The economical S Slewing Drive comes with Kinematics’ patented hourglass worm technology, which distributes the load typically found on a single tooth out over a range of 5 to 12 teeth.  This greatly increases output power, rotational torque, smoothness of rotation and efficiency.   Inside the slewing drive is a slewing ring, turntable bearing, four point contact ball bearing or roller bearing to carry overturning moment loads and keep efficiency high.  Kinematics’ manufactures cone drives, double enveloping worm gearsets, hourglass worms and helical gears for the drives.  All components are manufactured start to finish in Kinematics’ manufacturing plant from the first machining process to the load testing, final assembly and quality control checks.

Each slewing drive, rotator or positioner is tested for dependable performance, with base model sizes producing 3kNm to 387kNm of holding torque, 201Nm to 89kNm of output torque, 500Nm to 339kNm of overturning moment load capacity, and gearbox reduction ratios of 30:1 up to 156,600:1.
