Kinematics' slewing drives are an engineered, high precision product and must only be handled by qualified personnel. The manual you will download on this page will give you the knowledge to handle, inspect, install, and maintain a Kinematics' slewing drive. In addition to that, it will also give you an insight on some of the materials used in the slewing drive such as grease type, seal material, and sealant, among others, that contribute to making the Kinematics' slewing drive the top of the line drive that our customers have come to expect.
In order to keep all personnel safe at all times, this manual for the slewing drives is meant as a guide for the person who handles the product, whether at the receiving stage, through installation, or into the maintaining stage years after the initial purchase. Due to the large number of models and options available for our slewing drives, it does not include a Bill of Materials. With a Model and Serial number available, you may obtain a BOM from your dedicated KMI representative.

Kinematics Manufacturing, Inc. has taken extensive measures in order to implement the strictest of quality control in order to provide the best product available. Many of our customers request a 30 year life cycle with little to no maintenance. Due to these requirements, KMI has invested in numerous testing machines and processes in order to achieve this desired life cycle. These tests include, but are not limited to, salt spray testing, sand and water jet testing, ultraviolet testing, extreme temperature, torque, axial, radial, and overturning moment load testing and more.
While most of our test procedures can be viewed from our Test Equipment page, we understand our customers want to have confidence in the product they are buying. To this end, we have performed various 30 year life cycle tests on our slewing drives. This ability to provide a low cost, low maintenance solution to our customers has allowed KMI to become the largest slewing drive manufacturer in the world.

Kinematics Manufacturing, Inc. prides itself on providing the best slewing drives to our customers at all times, therefore, KMI has undergone extensive testing on our products in order to ensure they meet all of the specifications and requirements listed on each of our products. While a brief overview of our testing capabilities can be found on our
Test Equipment page of our website, many of our customers require a more detailed analysis of our testing processes. To meet these needs, Kinematics has put together the "Mean Time Between Failure Reliability Analysis" report which gives a detailed description of how each part will perform, what will happen to each part, and how long our product will last under certain conditions.
Each component is extensively detailed to show it's expected life, from the machined components from KMI(such as the slew gear, worm shaft and casted components) to purchased components(such as roller bearings, seals, and hardware). With these numbers, Kinematics is able to calculate that our products, under the listed duty cycles and conditions in the report, will be able to perform in the field for 55.3 years without a failure 90% of the time.
This proven performance combined with the Kinematics low cost solutions and high-grade quality allow us to continue to offer the best slewing drives and custom engineered products on the market today.
